The Meter Asset Provider (MAP) Scheme was initiated by Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in a bid to close the metering gap and eliminate estimated billing. Meter Asset Providers (MAP) are accredited third-party vendors mandated to finance, install, maintain and replace end-user electricity meters where applicable. The cost of the meters is regulated and determined through a transparent procurement process and under the MAP Scheme, customers have the option to pay upfront for the full cost of the meter.
