Who We Are
Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) is the electricity distribution company licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to distribute, and sell electricity to customers within Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe states all in the northeastern part of Nigeria. These areas are served by twelve (12) transmission stations across the franchise areas; they are located in Maiduguri, Biu, and Damboa (Borno State), Damaturu, Potiskum (Yobe State) and Hadejia (Kano State), Yola, Mayo-Belwa, and Numan (Adamawa State), Jalingo (Taraba State), and Yendev (Benue State).
YEDC was first privatized on November 1, 2013 but was handed back to the Federal Government of Nigeria after the first investors declared a force majeure.
On January 1st, 2022, Quest Electricity Nigeria Limited took over the affairs as the core investor in Yola Electricity Distribution Company with the mandate to Rebuild, Rehabilitate, and Reinforce through adequate investment, maintenance, and upgrade of electricity distribution infrastructure, network expansion, introducing and leveraging on smart technologies, reduction of Aggregate Technical, Collections & Commercial Losses (ATC &C) and to also serve as a model ‘customer-centric’ distribution company which will deliver maximum benefit for all stakeholders.
